Desiccated Coconut

Desiccated Coconut

Desiccated coconut is a versatile food product made from the dried, shredded meat of fully matured coconuts. It comes in various grades including coarse, medium, fine, as well as specialty forms like threads, strips, and granules. High-quality desiccated coconut is characterized by its crisp texture, snow-white colour, and a sweet, fresh coconut kernel taste.

To produce desiccated coconut, the white part of the coconut meat is separated after removing the brown parings. The meat is then shredded or disintegrated and dried using hot air driers at temperatures ranging from 140-170°F until it reaches a moisture content of about 2%. This process ensures the product meets stringent hygienic standards and is ready for use in the production of cakes, pastries, chocolates, and various other culinary applications.

Desiccated coconut is specifically processed to contain less than 3.0% moisture, making it a safe and convenient food product suitable for direct consumption.
